Chobe National Park is located northeast of the Okavango Delta. The Chobe and Linyanti contain a wide range of habitats, including marshes, rivers, riverine forests, dry woodlands, and the Savuti Channel.
This is a waterway that links the interior of Chobe National Park at the Savuti Marsh with the Linyanti River, which originates at Zibadianja Lagoon. The Savuti has only ever flowed sporadically; it last dried up in 1980.
Currently, the Savuti Channel is an open grassland that is home to a wide range of fauna. On the western edge of Chobe are three enormous private reserves: the Kwando, Selinda, and Linyanti. Every Botswana itinerary should include this area because it is very different from the Okavango and is well known for having lots of game, especially elephants and predators.
